Someone Has Discovered Wii Remote & Nunchuck Prototypes For The GameCube

Another interesting piece of Nintendo history has resurfaced recently.

Twitter user @spmrp has dug up a prototype of the Wii’s controllers – back when they were meant to be used on the GameCube!

Here’s the original GameCube patent that Nintendo showed off in the past, for comparison.

According the Japanese Tweet, however, it seems like the controllers sadly does not work when connected to a GameCube. We can only speculate what it would have been to have motion-controlled games long before the Wii shocked the world.
