Earlier this weekend, the Sonic the Hedgehog movie finally debuted with a massive splash in the US box office. With its studio already racing forward domestically, it looks like the film will also be zooming further across the globe!
New box office numbers and estimates are now placing the videogame-based film’s sales at around $100 million worldwide. This figure includes an estimated $60+ million of revenue from US theaters – and goes way beyond some analysts’ estimates of a paltry $20-30 million just weeks ago!
In response to this, movie Sonic’s voice-actor Ben Schwartz expressed his heartfelt thanks to fans.
It looks like the movie can only climb further up from here on out! We’ll report back when we hear more in the future.
