Sonic Team’s Boss Says The Sonic Film Is Not A SEGA Movie, Up To Paramount To Make It ‘Successful’

It looks like the beleaguered Sonic movie is truly out of SEGA’s hands.

In a recent interview with LadBible, Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka explained SEGA’s role regarding the film. According to him, the film is pretty much out of SEGA’s hands, and they are merely ‘advisers’ on the project.

“It’s not a SEGA movie – we’re not making it, or anything – and I’m only an adviser, really. But I do get shown things, and the [movie team] ask for my opinion. I’m also listening to what the fans are saying, and I’ll feed that back to the director – he, and the producers, are very interested in receiving that feedback.”

Of course, there’s no telling how much Paramount Pictures really heeded SEGA’s recommendations during the film’s production. Iizuka went on to clarify that it was now Paramount’s responsibility to ensure the movie was a success.

“At the end of the day, it’s up to the team at Paramount to make something successful, but we’re all looking forward to seeing the finished movie.”

Hopefully Paramount can set things right, now that they are apparently making changes to Sonic’s CGI design. We’ll report back when more news surrounding the movie crops up.
