Earlier this month, the long awaited Sonic The Hedgehog film sequel was finally released in theaters, to a great deal of positive reception.
Given the success of the Sonic and Detective Pikachu movies, as well as with the Mario movie on the horizon, many fans have already begun dreaming of a possible Super Smash Bros.-style crossover film bringing together the movie versions of all sorts of videogame characters.
In a recent interview with Comicbook.com, the director of the Sonic film series Jeff Fowler expressed interest in creating such a film, or at the very least, a Mario VS Sonic movie.
“Nothing would make me happier than to just throw all the characters into a battle royale and do a big Smash Bros. thing. That would probably require some work from the lawyers before that could happen. Getting Mario and Sonic in the ring, I mean everyone would be kinda dying for that, right? That’s just classic.”
Obviously, the complexity of ownership rights for every character may make it difficult for such a film to become a reality, but if Sora can join Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, perhaps anything is possible.
