SEGASammy has published their full game unit sales for the fiscal year of 2021, revealing just how well their biggest franchises sold overall.
Despite his games having mixed reception in recent years, SEGA’s iconic blue blur Sonic The Hedgehog has emerged as one of the company’s top performers with 4.4 million unit sales across all of his games. In comparison, the Persona franchise reached about 3 million in unit sales in fourth place, while second and third place were occupied by Total War and Football Manager respectively.
Interestingly, 2011’s Sonic Generations is listed among the Sonic titles contributing to the year’s figures, and not more recent 3D entries such as Sonic: Lost World or Sonic Forces. One wonders if this could mean that Generations is still selling better than those new Sonic entries, but without more exact figures from SEGA, this is mostly speculation.
