Although Super Mario Maker 2 isn’t supposed to come out till Friday, there seem to be some copies already floating around in the wild. As a result, fans are already discovering some unannounced features that are present in the game.
One of these features is a power-up from the oft-forgotten Gameboy title Super Mario Land. Specifically, its the Super Ball power-up which can only be found in that specific Mario game. In Super Mario Maker 2, this power-up grants Mario a greyscale makeover to go with its Gameboy origins, and is apparently unlocked through story mode.
The existence of this power-up in Super Mario Maker 2 has been confirmed both through video footage (courtesy of Six Sack) and datamined info dug up by NWplayer123 on Twitter, presented below:
NWPlayer123 also found some music tracks from Super Mario Land in Super Mario Maker 2‘s data, although it is currently unknown how they fit into the game.
So far, this is all the content from Super Mario Land that has been discovered in Super Mario Maker 2. It is likely there are a lot more hidden secrets about the game waiting to be uncovered, and we will be sure to bring more details as they come.
