As you may know, Square-Enix is launching a mobile only prequel to Octopath Traveler called “Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent” in Japan.
Although the game is currently still in the closed beta stage, many fans have been wondering whether it will eventually be released in English for players outside of Japan to enjoy.
Responding to a question about an English localisation on Twitter, Square-Enix responded by saying while they do hope to provide “various opportunities” for players, they are currently focused on getting the Japanese release right.
That said, Square-Enix also said to “wait for further information” about “other development plans”, which could suggest that localisation plans are already in the works.
You can check out their response below:
“Thank you for your enquiry concerning our products. The reason we started creating this game was because we would like more and more people to immerse themselves in the world of OCTOPATH TRAVELER. We would definitely like to provide various opportunities for our players. However, at the moment we are doing our best in order to accomplish the Japanese domestic version. About other development plans, please wait for further information.”
