If you have any beloved Super Mario Maker stages on your Wii U or 3DS, you can probably kiss them goodbye.
A Nintendo representative has confirmed that players of the first game will not be able to transfer stages over to Super Mario Maker 2 on Switch. This is because Super Mario Maker 2 has too many new items and features to be compatible with the first game’s maps.
In other words, you will have to re-create any of your favorite levels from scratch, instead.
While unfortunate, at least players will have new tools to toy around with when the sequel finally launches on 28 June 2019. We’ll report back when more news about the game pops up.
