We have disheartening news for Switch fans looking forward to Starlink: Battle for Atlas.
The physical Switch Starter Pack (which includes the Fox and Arwing figures) will require a 6GB day one patch. This is actually around half the size of the digital version of the game, which is 12.7GB in size.
This means that if Nintendo’s servers are shut down in the future, the day-one patch would become inaccessible. Essentially, not even getting the physical copy will ensure that you can keep playing the game several years later.
It’s not clear if publishers Ubisoft decided to skimp out and go for cheaper 8GB cartridges. In any case, interested players will probably want to have a decent MicroSD card prepared when the game launches this coming Tuesday.
