Many SteamWorld fans have been requesting Image & Form to port the original SteamWorld Dig to Nintendo Switch.
Today Image & Form addressed this issue in the latest episode of The Engine Room. The studio said technical issues are making porting SteamWorld Dig to Switch harder than SteamWorld Heist, as Dig was built on an older game engine thus some capabilities could have become obsolete.
As Heist is relatively newer than Dig and much more similar to Dig 2 in terms of the tech powering it, it was much easier to port it over to Switch. Another reason is the storyline, whereby Heist has a larger connection to SteamWorld Dig 2.
So it may be some time before we see the original SteamWorld Dig coming to Switch!
