Super Mario 3D World Was Used For Testing In Splatoon

A new interesting detail has been spotted in the Splatoon V&A exhibition video featuring Hisashi Nogami and Shinya Takahashi.

In the early stages of Splatoon’s development, it seems Nintendo used the first level of Super Mario 3D World’s Super Bell Hill as a test map. Below you can find a comparison between the level in Splatoon and level in Super Mario 3D World:

This discovery shouldn’t be surprising as Nintendo at one time considered making Splatoon a Mario IP, but thankfully that didn’t happen.
