Following its premier in theatres last week, the Super Mario Bros. Movie has smashed another global record over its opening weekend.
As shared by The Hollywood Reporter, the film has now grossed $377 million in worldwide ticket sales, becoming the biggest box office opening for an animated film ever. The previous record holder was Frozen 2, which made $358 million during its opening. This is in addition to the many other records the film set previously.
Overall, its safe to say that the film is a big success for Nintendo and Illumination, although they do not seem to have anything to announce yet in terms of a follow-up. Stay tuned for more information as it comes.
