The Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) has published their rating of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, the upcoming new 2D entry in the Super Mario franchise.

The game has been rated “E” for Everyone, as seen on the official page here. It is noted that the game contains “Mild Cartoon Violence”, which is to be expected from a Mario game. In addition, the ESRB rating states the the game contains “In-Game Purchases”, possibly suggesting that paid DLC might be released for the title.

The rating also includes a brief description of the game, one that seemingly confirms that Bowser will once again be the main villain:

This is a platformer game in which players control characters from the Mario universe as they try to stop the villain Bowser. Players traverse whimsical environments while jumping on enemies’ heads, throwing shells/objects at them, or tossing small fireballs to knock them off-screen. Boss battles contain more involved combat against giant enemies that breathe fire and smash parts of the scenery.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder launches October 20th 2023 for Switch.
