Some disappointing news for fans looking forward to visiting Super Nintendo World at Universal Orlando in the states.
As some of you may know, Super Nintendo World Orlando was planned to be part of a major expansion to the main Universal theme park called “Epic Universe”. However, Universal and parent company Comcast have since announced that these plans have been “put on hold indefinitely”. The reason is due to reduced revenue caused by the COVID-19 coronavirus situation.
You can check out the official statement reported by NBC WESH news affiliate below:
“In April, Universal announced Epic Universe would be delayed. Then, on Thursday, top executives with Universal’s parent company Comcast said the project was on hold indefinitely. ‘We are continually adjusting our cost base and capital, including pausing development of our Epic Universe project in Florida, for example, until the future becomes more certain,’ Jeff Shell said.”
With development of Epic Universe on hold, it follows that Super Nintendo World has been delayed alongside it. Whether these plans will be picked up again once the pandemic subsides remains to be seen.
