Masahiro Sakurai’s latest Famitsu column was leaked in Japan this week, providing a few details on the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
In the column, Masahiro Sakurai revealed the project plan for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was completed in December 2015. That’s exactly three years before the game’s release date. He also said Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has gone gold.
The director shared how Incineroar became a fighter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. When Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon were released, a Pokemon slot was left opened. As Sakurai wanted a newcomer to represent a new game, he went ahead with Incineroar. Another reason behind Incineroar’s inclusion is because he wanted to make a pro wrestler.
Lastly, it was revealed that the decision to cut trophies out of the game was made early in development. The development team decided to pour their efforts into bringing all fighters back.
