In recent times, Nintendo has been pushing some of their games as potential eSports titles, with games like Super Smash Bros., Splatoon 2, and ARMs taking the forefront.
Clearly, the push is seeing some effect as according to the latest Disney XD eSports TV ratings, Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Splatoon 2 seem to be garnering plenty of interest with a total viewership surpassing the next closest competitor, Heroes of the Storm, by quite a margin.
Granted there are still many more conventional eSports title that were not represented by Disney XD’s programming – possibly due to the nature of certain games – however, Nintendo has shown that their games are at least gaining some traction in the eSports world.
We hope to see more of such thrilling games that are not just fun to play but also exciting to spectate from Nintendo.
