The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has made public some of Nintendo’s patents relating to the Switch 2.
The patents were filed back in 2023, showing just how far ahead the console was being planned. Going through the patents, fans have discovered some illustrations for various functionalities of the Joy-con, including more detailed confirmation that they will be able to act as a mouse. We also get a patent design for a possible Pro-Controller variation with this mouse functionality, as well as a charging dock for the Joy-cons.
Presumably, Nintendo will show off more of these features during their upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 Direct in April. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
