While Capcom has yet to announce any major videogame news to celebrate the series’ big birthday, it seems like the company is aware that fans are hungry for something a little more substantial!
On this day 20 years ago, the Mega Man franchise carved out a fresh and new genre of its own – which would go on to shake the handheld gaming world with its reimagining of the blue bomber’s adventures!
Earlier this year, Capcom Japan commenced its search for licensing partners to assist with the Mega Man Battle Network (MMBN) series’ 20th anniversary in 2021 – possibly hinting at big plans for the beloved franchise next year. Well, it looks like things might also be heating up for MMBN fans in the west as well!
For many Capcom loyalists, the Mega Man Battle Network series represents a silver age for the company – with the blue bomber Mega Man re-fashioned into the hero of an action-RPG instead. Many to this day are still emotionally attached to the Battle Network titles, and one fan is now going the extra mile to give the first game a total overhaul!
