Over a decade after the original game’s release, Nintendo has released a new update for Super Mario Galaxy 2.

The update was released for the Switch version of the game, and adds a new “Epilogue” story to the storybook. After reaching the Final Chapter of the book, players can clear any galaxy and earn a power star to unlock the Epilogue.

• Several issues have been fixed and adjustments made to ensure a smoother gaming experience on both Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.
• A new story has been added to the storybook. Once Final Chapter is available in the storybook, you can read the new story by clearing any galaxy and earning a Power Star.

Note: The software must be updated to Ver. 1.2.0 or later to play on Nintendo Switch 2.

While we will not spoil the contents of the Epilogue here, it appears that it is may have been added as a tie-in with the Super Mario Galaxy Movie. The film explores aspects of Princess Rosalina’s backstory that Nintendo may be planning to make official within the game’s universe.
