It seems that the Japanese voice actors behind Team Rocket villains Jessie and James are involved in the Pokemon Detective Pikachu movie.
According to the credits of the movie, Jessie voice actor Megumi Hayashibara plays Dr. Laurent, while James voice actor Shinichiro Miki plays as Roger in the movie. This seems to imply Jessie and James don’t appear in the movie, otherwise Hayashibara and Miki would have voiced both of those characters.
