The Developer Behind Shantae’s Switch Release Shares About Porting Over The Game Boy Color Classic

As reported recently, the original Shantae (2002) for Game Boy Color received a modern re-release on Nintendo Switch. If you’re wondering how this ambitious project came about, here’s an inside look straight from the developer himself!

Modern Vintage Gamer (MVG), well-known for his Switch homebrew projects, recently shared his experience being the main man behind Shantae‘s Switch port. On top of having to reference the original game to emulate it closely (even down to its original visual glitches), MVG also speaks about some minor tweaks such as needing to get rid of the original licensing text by Nintendo and Capcom for this release!
