For many internet old-timers, the name “Neopets” may bring back a flood of memories about the 1999 pet-raising internet browser game that took the world by storm. While the franchise has seen better days, its current development staff seem to have some interesting ideas on how to expand the game’s presence in the future!
According to a recent Washington Post report, The Neopets Team is apparently thinking of bringing the game to Nintendo Switch – so as to “modernize the product and expand its audience”. Sadly, the team declined to share further details about what they are considering currently.
This is in the midst of The Neopets Team’s efforts to convert the original Neopets website from running on the decommissioned Adobe Flash plugin, and setting it up on more modern programming. It’s also worth noting that The Neopets Team currently has an ongoing open beta for the game on mobile devices – so it’s not exactly a stretch that they’re considering other platforms outside PCs. We’ll just have to wait and see if anything Switch-related materializes from this in the near future.
