The Pokemon Company has reported its earnings for the fiscal year ending on February 28th 2022, revealing just how well the company did for that period.
This information was shared by analyst Dr. Serkan Toto, via a filing with Japan’s official gazette. According to the data, The Pokemon Company’s sales went up by over 70% from the previous fiscal year at 204 billion yen (US$1.6bn), along with an operating profit of 59 billion yen (US$460m) and a net profit of 41bn yen (US$320m). In the case of the latter, this net profit figure is up a whopping 123% over the previous year’s earnings.
This dramatic increase in earnings is no doubt due to The Pokemon Company launching two mainline Pokemon games last fiscal year (Pokemon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, Pokemon Legends Arceus) as well as the long awaited spin-off revival New Pokemon Snap.
With Pokemon Scarlet/Violet due to release at the end of 2022, it would be interesting to see how that game’s performance will affect next year’s financial results. Stay tuned for more as it comes.
