Abby Trott, the singer behind the English version of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate theme song Lifelight, recently gave an interview to P-Nintendo talking about her experience.

First, Trott revealed she is a Nintendo fan even before she auditioned for the song, and had no idea what it was for. After she passed through the second round, she finally found out what the audition was for, and cried. She says she loves the song “so much”.

“I was lucky to have the opportunity to audition through Cup of Tea Productions, and at that time I had no idea what the audition was for. For the first round, I presented my singing demo. The second round involved singing a requested song (not ‘Lifelight’). They caught me and I cried when I discovered what the project was. As a Nintendo fan for a lifetime, being part of Smash Bros. Ultimate is really special to me. I love ‘Lifelight’ so much …”
