A 51-year-old Japanese man who has collected 15 Nintendo 3DS consoles says he has no interest in the Nintendo Switch 2, saying he does not plan to buy one as he’s enjoying his Nintendo 3DS.
The man, Junichiro Nakagawa, gave several reasons why. Junichiro was planning the PS2 and Nintendo DS in earlier years, and he decided to make Nintendo 3DS his final console when he was 31 years old, so at the time he decided to give up on getting a Nintendo Switch, PS3, PS4, and PS5, though last year he had to get a Nintendo Switch to play Dragon Quest III HD-2D remake as it didn’t come out on Nintendo 3DS.
To Junichiro, the most important thing about Nintendo 3DS is that it was able to download old games, purchase them in physical formats, and play remakes.
Sharing an analogy about how people can’t get used to new music as they age, Junichiro says he still finds the games that he played 10 years ago the most memorable. At the moment, he owns 15 Nintendo 3DS consoles, but why does he have so many of them?
That’s because after many years of use, his first console started having problems, such as broken buttons and dead pixels. So, he decided to get a large supply of 3DS consoles to ensure he still has at least a couple of working ones through the remaining years of his life, assuming he lives till 80. This is especially important as the prices of Nintendo 3DS hardware have skyrocketed over the years after production ceased in Japan.
