Following the release of the Super Mario Galaxy Movie, we may have a date for the next major film collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination.
According to Universal’s Spanish website, an “Untitled Nintendo/Illumination Event Film” is scheduled for release on 12th April 2028. Many fans believe that this is likely to be the Donkey Kong animated movie, as Illumination and Nintendo previously filed a copyright for an “Untitled Donkey Kong Motion Picture” to the US Copyright office.
That said, Nintendo and Illumination themselves has yet to make any official announcement about what they are working on next, and are unlikely to do so any time soon while the Super Mario Galaxy movie is fresh in everyone’s minds. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
