When Pokemon Red & Blue made its 1998 debut in the US, TIME Magazine published a big article on the franchise, complete with an appropriate cover, expressing skepticism about its popularity amongst other controversial statements.
Now, 25 years later, Pokemon has grown into a global phenomenon, beloved by kids and adults alike. To commemorate this milestone in the US, TIME Magazine has published a new feature about the series, this round a lot more positive in its coverage, discussing its history and impact over the years. In-line with the franchise, TIME Magazine is also releasing this issue with four variant covers, each featuring a different Kanto starter Pokemon along with Pikachu.
This Pokemon edition of TIME Magazine will be available until May 2024, and you can pick up one for yourself on Amazon here.
