Nintendo has added a bunch of Virtual Console sections to the Nintendo Switch eShop today.
This was discovered by dataminer KevDoy, who combed through the Switch eShop’s JSON files. KevDoy says the sections added to the Switch eShop include NES, SNES, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Nintendo 64, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, and “other”. You can take a look at the JSON files yourself here.
So what do the presence of these sections mean? There are two possibilities. The first possibility is Nintendo still has plans to launch Virtual Console on Nintendo Switch, even though they said they wouldn’t. The second possibility is Nintendo simply brought over these sections from the Wii U eShop, but the reason behind this move is unclear.
