Virtuos is a studio that worked on porting games such as Dark Souls Remastered, Starlink, Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster and Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age to the Nintendo Switch. All of which are third-party games that have greatly enhanced the system’s library.
In a recent interview with Nintendo Life, Virtuos revealed that some of their partners who are highly interested in bringing beloved IP’s to the Nintendo Switch have started approaching the studio to help make it a reality. The studio also shared that Switch fans can also expect to see unique versions of these IP’s made specifically to take advantage of the system’s features.
Here’s what Elijah Freeman, vice president of Virtuos’ Games Division, has to say:
Many of our partners are already approaching us to help them create bespoke Switch titles for some of the most beloved IPs in our industry. I believe that we could and will see unique versions of franchises developed specifically to harness elements of the Switch that make it so special. I would credit this to the unique portability of the console and the quality of gameplay experiences that it offers players, not a result of technical constraints.
We certainly hope these endeavors proceed to materialize in the future, whatever those beloved IP’s may be. For now, let us all wait and see.
