Walmart Clarifies That Technical Glitch Led To “Speculative” E3 Leaks

Earlier it was reported that Walmart Canada had leaked out information about a bunch of including the release of Metroid Prime 4 this year. However, a spokesperson for Walmart has come out to clarify the situation.

Apparently, Walmart had experienced a technical glitch that caused the leak. It is also added that the games that were “leaked” were speculations and that only game publishers can confirm the announcement of a release.

“Walmart experienced a technical glitch that allowed certain items to be posted to our website for a short period of time,” Anika Malik, director of corporate affairs for Walmart Canada, told Motherboard in an email. “The items posted were speculative in nature and only game publishers can confirm the announcement of a release. We apologize for any confusion this has caused. Like the gaming community, Walmart looks forward with anticipation to those announcements.”

This may indicate that Walmart actually had no information on the games and was actually making educated guesswork. Only Walmart themselves know if the information were “speculative” or true secrets.
