From her first game on the Game Boy Color to her latest game on the Nintendo Switch, Wayforward’s Shantae has seen great success in the realm of 2D action platformers. That said, is it finally time for her to make the jump to 3D?
Speaking to USGamer, Wayforward’s Matt Bozon revealed that the team has talked about making a 3D Shantae game “for years”, but haven’t quite found the “right time” to make it happen. Even now with the latest generation of consoles being rolled out, its hard for them to say if this is finally “the one”:
We’ve talked for years about taking Shantae into a 3D polygonal world. But that’s never happened. I can’t say if this generation will be “the one,” but it’s something we’ll probably consider again when the time is right.
