After a productive summer, it looks like Nintendo is finally cooling off on its advertising frenzy.
According to VentureBeat, Nintendo fell to fourth place in terms of TV ad impressions from 16 August – 15 September 2019. The company was outplayed by Xbox, 2K Games, and EA – which all went on an advertising spree during this period. Xbox came out on top with a whopping 616.9 million ad impressions, while 2K Games (163.8 million ad impressions) and EA Sports (138.4 million ad impressions) trailed behind in 2nd and 3rd place respectively.
Meanwhile, Nintendo scuttled along more slowly with just 94.1 million ad impressions in comparison. You can check out more details below.
- Nintendo aired nine spots 446 times.
- “Disney Channel: Summer Fun” was Nintendo’s most-seen commercial with 43.5 million impressions
- Three of the networks with high impression-counts include Disney Channel, Nick, and Cartoon Network
- Top shows were SpongeBob SquarePants, The Loud House, and Bunk’d.
It took awhile, but it looks like other companies have finally overtaken Mario and company in terms of TV presence! It’ll be interesting to see if Nintendo will fire back with any new ad campaigns in the future.
We’ll report back when more TV ad statistic emerge in two weeks’ time. Stay tuned!
