After 18 months on the market, it looks like Xenoblade Chronicles 2 has truly exceeded everyone’s expectations.
In an interview with 4Gamer, Monolith Soft’s Tetsuya Takahashi revealed that the RPG has sold 1.73 million copies worldwide so far. These sales figures are accurate up till March 2019 – and are impressive considering that the first Xenoblade Chronicles did not manage to break the one million mark previously.
While Takahashi commented that such sales figures have peaked at this point, it’s also possible that the RPG is still exceeding this number right now. After all, digital sales of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 suddenly skyrocketed last month – after Nintendo introduced an offer for Switch Online members to purchase first-party games cheaper.
As things are, the future of Monolith Soft is looking brighter than ever before. The company has already hired over 200 employees – and have opened as many as five separate studios to assist with new game projects. Like all fans, we’ll be waiting in anticipation for their next title to show up in the future!
