In December 2019, gyudon chain Yoshinoya and The Pokemon Company teamed up to serve Pokemon themed gyudon with Pokemon figurines in Japan.
The Pokemon gyudon were an instant hit and Yoshinoya had to stop selling them because they were too popular. Thankfully though, they are returning for another serving in Japan for a limited time.
From May 14 to June 15, 2020, Yoshinoya will serve Pokemon gyudon sets to customers. Each set comes with a bowl of braised beef rice and a Pokemon figurine. Besides the previously released figurines in 2019, customers will also have a chance of receiving a Pikachu figurine.
Due to the current state of emergency measures in Japan, the Pokemon gyudon will be served from 11am to 8pm daily, and there will be a limited number of sets each day. Sales may end earlier depending on stock levels, and each person could order up to 3 bowls. Dining-in is not allowed, so all Pokemon gyudon will be served as take-outs.
