Yusuke Omura, a freelance character designer who had previously worked with past Pokemon games, announced their involvement with the development of Pokemon Sword and Shield.

Omura revealed they were responsible for designing Zacian and Zamazenta, the two cover Legendary Pokemon, as well as the human trainer Marnie.
