Nintendo has made an interesting comment about the sales ratio between physical and digital for Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
According to the company, about 50% of all sales made for Animal Crossing: New Horizons in Japan, the Americas, and Europe were digital. This means about 5 million copies of the game were downloaded worldwide, which is extremely high for a first party Nintendo title.
Nintendo commented that one major factor that could have contributed to this is the ongoing coronavirus quarantine, which has led to many traditional brick-and-mortar businesses to close their doors. Nintendo does not expect this trend to continue into the future, especially after the lockdowns end in various countries.
