Recently, Al: The Somnium Files director Kotaro Uchikoshi has spoken at length about the upcoming game at GDC 2019. Some of his newest comments, however, could lead to some interesting issues in the near future.
In a recent interview with Noisy Pixel, Uchikoshi spoke more about the game’s target demographic. In particular, he mentions that the detective title will not only appeal to adventure fans – but also male players:
“For the adventure game fans, I can guarantee that you’ll have a great time with this game…And for the boys out there, there are some cute and sexy scenes that you can be happy about.”
While what defines ‘cute and sexy’ is highly subjective, we can only imagine how some ratings teams might be hovering over Uchikoshi’s words like a hawk now. After all, the game is launching for the PS4 as well, and we’ve already touched extensively upon how hilariously aggressive some of Sony’s censorship policies have become in the past year.
In any case, let’s hope Uchikoshi plays it smart with the fanservice here – without any compromises to his vision. We’ll report back when we hear more about Al: The Somnium Files and its Switch release in the future.
