Animal Crossing: New Horizons Uses The Same Engine As Splatoon 2, Code Name And More Revealed

Datamienr OatmealDome has found some interesting technical details about Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which officially launches tomorrow for Nintendo Switch.

First, we now know the internal code name for Animal Crossing: New Horizons – “Park”.

Next, it seems that Animal Crossing: New Horizons is using the same engine as other Nintendo games such as Splatoon 2, Super Mario Maker 2, and ARMS. And for some reason, it’s using Havok, the same physics engine middleware used in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

In addition, Animal Crossing: New Horizons makes use of the same peer-to-peer base netcode (Pia), which is, again, used in Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and other Nintendo games.
