It seems like Astral Chain director Takahisa Taura has huge ambitions for the action game’s future.
[UPDATE: Taura has clarified that Platinum Games has not actually planned sequels for Astral Chain. Rather, it’s just an idea he has been entertaining in his mind. Read more about it over here.]
In a recent interview with IGN Benelux, Taura was asked about the possibility of post-launch DLC for the title. In responses, Taura confirmed that there was currently no such extra content in development at the moment. However, this is because Astral Chain could be much more than just a standalone title – and it may get an entire trilogy, if the series can sell well!
Here’s a rough translation of Taura’s words below:
“Currently, there are no plans to publish extra content for Astral Chain. That is different for the game’s story. We’re making the game as a trilogy, and this is the first part of that trilogy. If this game sells well, we might see how the story of the series continues.”
He’s definitely sounding quite confident of the game as a whole! Let’s hope audiences receive it with open arms when it finally launches exclusively for Nintendo Switch on 30 August 2019.
