Borderlands 4 Delayed Indefinitely For Switch 2

Gearbox has announced that the Borderlands 4 release for the Switch 2 has been delayed indefinitely.

Borderlands 4 was among the first third-party games announced to be heading to the Switch 2, and was originally planned to launch in October after the release on other platforms. According to the announcement on social media, the delay is to give the game additional dev time and polish to deliver “the best possible experience”.

“Greetings, Vault Hunters – We need to share that the release of Borderlands 4 on Nintendo Switch 2 is being delayed. We do not take this decision lightly, but are committed to ensuring we deliver the best possible experience to our fans, and the game needs additional development and polish time to do that. Our hope is to also better align this release with the addition of cross saves, which we are working on and recognize is very important. We will update you all on the new release timing once we’ve fully adjusted our plans.”

Borderlands 4 is already available for PC, PS5, and XBox Series, and has come under fire from fans due to major performance issues. As such, it is perhaps unsurprising that the Switch 2 version is being delayed to avoid even more potential ire. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
