Angry Mob’s answer to Smash Bros. on the Nintendo Switch, Brawlout, will not stay a Switch exclusive for long. On top of being in early access on Steam, the game is also due for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 early next year.
Still, with Cross-play being more of a thing in recent times, Engadget reached out to Angry Mob games to see if cross-play was in the works. Unfortunately, this was Angry Mob CEO, Bogdan Iliesiu’s, reply:
“[Cross-play is] really tricky for a fighting game,” he explained, “because in a fighting game, whenever you do cross-platform, you have to have a server. And if you have a server in our game, instead of four frames of input lag, you get like at least eight frames on top of the input lag, and the experience won’t be as good. So we have to see. We hope to have a large playerbase on each platform, and that solves it all.”
Looks like we should not hold our breath for a cross-play but we can certainly dream about one. Maybe in the future without such technical challenges can everyone finally play together. Hopefully, by then PlayStation would be willing to join in the cross-play bandwagon too. You can read the full article by Engadget here.
