The latest issue of Monthly CoroCoro Comic, a manga magazine in Japan that is no stranger to exclusive Nintendo-related teasers (including the new Mythical Pokemon Zarude) has teased “a new action game epic to follow Splatoon and Fortnite” for Switch, suggesting that the game is aimed at a younger audience and is likely to be a third-person shooter with cartoon-like graphics.
The game is also reportedly set in “a new world that utilizes Switch’s performance to its very limit,” where “battles break out between skyscrapers in the middle of a peaceful city resembling New York.” If anything, the former seems like a clear indicator that the game is a Switch exclusive, and we could very well see it during an upcoming Nintendo presentation since it is also stated that it is coming out in 2020 in Japan.
As for the game’s publisher and developer, no details were shared, although a manga adaptation is supposedly already in the works as well, suggesting that a Japan-based studio will be involved. Shogakukan themselves, who are behind CoroCoro and other manga publications, are likely key stakeholders in this project as well.
We will cover more details on this mysterious game and its manga adaptation as they come.
