2018 is going to be a big year for gaming, even Nintendo’s President Kimishima thinks so too.
But what do developers think of 2018? 2018 is going to be great too, but don’t just take that from me, see what they have to say for themselves.
Speaking to 4Gamer and translated by Siliconera, here are what some developers have to say about 2018.
Starting with Producer at Capcom Motohiro Eshiro, the company is working on a new Ace Attorney title, whether it will be on the Nintendo Switch, that’s yet to be seen but it is sure to keep fans excited.
Motohiro Eshiro (Producer): “I believe we’ll continue working on something that will make Ace Attorney series fans happy. We’re also currently coming up with a new title, so personally speaking I think it’ll be a challenging year.”
Level-5’s CEO, Akihiro Hino won’t just drop the ball from Capcom too. He made reference to a new game to celebrate the company’s 20th anniversary. In fact the anniversary game is going to be so huge that it is “packed with everything Level-5 has to offer”.
2018 will be 20 years since the founding of Level-5. We intend to create new IPs and work hard on developments, more than ever, in order to become the world’s number one entertainment brand. You guys might be curious, but we’ve began work on a 20th anniversary commemorative title. I can’t share more details for now but we’re planning to make it a huge title with packed with everything Level-5 has to offer.
Level-5 isn’t the only one celebrating anniversaries next year, NIS themselves are also celebrating their 25th anniversary. Even they are preparing something big to celebrate, according to NIS President Sohei Niikawa.
“Nippon Ichi Software will see its 25th anniversary in July 2018. We’re preparing several projects to be able to offer something ‘fun’ and ‘surprising’ that is fitting of the 25th anniversary. And I believe that several of those will surprise you beyond expectations (and now the hurdle is higher).”
Nintendo’s ex-rival Sega also have some surprises up their sleave. In a concise message, Sega’s Chief Creative Officer, Toshihiro Nagoshi, said.
“We still have some unannounced things. We have more surprises, so please look forward to it!”
So it looks like 2018 is going to be another big year. The piece from Siliconera contains many more teases from many other developers so if you are interest, do visit the site here.
