Last month, Blizzard announced Diablo II: Resurrected, a remaster for the classic role-playing hack-and-slash title coming to the Switch and other platforms.
In an interview with IGN, game producer Matthew Cederquist revealed that an interesting feature for the remastered title: it will allow players to use their save files from the original Diablo II on PC, some of which may be more than 20 years old. According to Cederquist, this feature was not originally planned for the remaster, but something they “kind of shoved in and it worked”.
“Back when we were working on [the remaster], we wondered if the old save files would work and we kind of shoved it in and it worked. And we were like, ‘okay, that’s the best feature ever’.”
Wondering how this could tie into the Switch? Diablo II: Resurrected will reportedly support cross-saves between the Switch and PC, meaning that players could load up their old save file on the PC version, then transfer it to the Switch for portable play.
