Earlier this month, the GDC 2020 event was unfortunately postponed owing to concerns about the growing coronavirus outbreak worldwide. While fans have been worried that other major gaming events this year will face a similar fate, the organizers of E3 2020 have stepped up to assure folks that everything is still on schedule.
In a statement to VICE, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) was adamant that E3 would still carry on in June 2020 this year. While the organization did not mention any specific measures it would take to tackle growing coronavirus fears, it stated that it was watching the situation very closely:
“Everyone is watching the situation very closely. We will continue to be vigilant, as our first priority is the health, wellness and safety of all of our exhibitors and attendees. Given what we know at this time, we are moving ahead full speed with E3 2020 planning. Exhibit and registration sales are on track for an exciting show in June.”
We’ll report back as we get more updates about E3 2020. Stay tuned.
