Yesterday the Wall Street Journal published a report claiming Nintendo will release two new models of Nintendo Switch in Summer 2019.
Eurogamer has backed this report and claims it is accurate, citing sources they have talked to. The outlet says the cheaper Nintendo Switch model, is targeted for kids, will have several features stripped down to reduce costs and it will become sturdier in order to be more “kid-proof”. Eurogamer claims this model is akin to a Nintendo 2DS and it is a portable-only machine.
As for the more expensive and upgraded Nintendo Switch model, Eurogamer claims it’s similar to a New Nintendo 3DS XL. This means you can expect a boost in specs but the bump isn’t as large as the upgrade from PS4 to PS4 Pro. Also, Eurogamer has heard this model will still support TV Mode.
Of course, Nintendo has decided not to comment on Eurogamer’s report as the systems aren’t officially announced yet.
