Fan-Artist Imagines 3D Pokemon Game Based On Classic Ken Sugimori Artwork

The look and feel of the Pokemon series has changed dramatically since the days of Pokemon Red & Blue, and although the modern art style is still beloved by many, some longtime fans may find themselves nostalgic for the classic aesthetic of the series, and perhaps wondering what could have been had the series continued along that path.

Answering this question is Pokemon fan-artist @pokeyugami, who has created a mock trailer imagining what a 3D Pokemon game could look like if it kept the original art style and aesthetic used by Ken Sugimori back in the day. Specifically, the trailer appears to blend Sugimori’s classic style with the gameplay of Pokemon Legends Arceus to make something that looks truly impressive, even if its only a short clip of the player walking through Viridian Forest.

What do you think? Would you like to see an actual Pokemon game in this style? Let us know in the comments below!
