Censorship in video-games is a hot-button topic these days, especially when it comes to Japanese games. As such, fans of the Fate franchise will be happy to know that no content from Fate/Extella Link was censored or cut, at least according to its publisher XSeed.
In response to one concerned fan on Twitter, XSeed made it clear that Fate/Extella Link did not have anything removed from the game across any platform or region.
The Fate franchise has somewhat of a notorious reputation for having somewhat suggestive character designs and content. This makes fears of censorship a pretty big concern for fans. Not only has it happened with other Fate titles before in certain regions, but it has also happened with XSeed’s other published games. For example, Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal, also published by XSeed, had its “intimacy mode” removed in the PS4 version of the game.
While it is nice to have reassurance from XSeed that Extella Link didn’t get censored, concern over censorship for future titles is unlikely to go away any time soon, especially given Sony’s new censorship policies. While Extella Link may have dodged the censorship hammer this time, it remains to be seen if future games in the franchise will similarly avoid that fate.
