FCC Filings Confirm NFC Support For Switch 2 And More

Earlier this year, Nintendo officially revealed the Switch 2, with more details set to be shared in an April 2nd Nintendo Direct.

Ahead of this presentation, more details have been confirmed about the console via newly released filings from the US Federal Communication Commission (FCC). While The Verge goes into much more detail, you can find a brief summary of the key info below:

  • The Switch 2 will support amiibo via NFC. The reader will be located on the right Joy-con, same as the original Switch.
  • The Switch 2 uses  Wi-Fi 6 as opposed to the original’s Wi-Fi 5, possibly suggesting it will have faster connection speeds.
  • The USB-C port on top of the Switch 2 can indeed function as a secondary charging port, allowing for easier tabletop play.
