It looks like indie fighting game Fight of Gods will be fading away within Japan soon.
Publisher COSEN has announced that it will be taking down the title from the Japanese Switch eShop after 28 February 2021, due to an expiring contract. Additionally, the company will also stop selling physical copies of the fighting game in Japan after its current stock has run out.
As noted in COSEN’s announcement, this Japanese localization is also unique as it gave the character Amaterasu a new Japanese voice actor not present in other releases of the game.
“At the end of January, the game’s developer contacted us that the switch version of FIGHT OF GODS will not renew its contract for this term, and the download version will be discontinued on February 28, 2021. Packaged versions and goods will end as soon as our stock runs out. If you are looking for a version with the voice of Tamako Miyazaki, please purchase it before then.”
For now, it is not known if the game’s removal from Japan will have implications for other regions. We’ll report back if we hear more in the future!
